Lincoln recently hosted its annual One-Act Play Fest—a show celebrating performances and pieces by members of the Drama department. The event began on Wednesday, May 18 and lasted for three nights, until Friday, May 20.

Instead of solely acting, drama students were able to showcase their abilities as playwrights, as well. Theatergoers were treated to a number of original creations, and all plays featured were “acted, directed, and produced by students.”

Each nights, the lineup differed slightly, but every act that appeared in the show was able to perform for two out of the three nights. Sets, costumes, and staging differed for every play. The show was also made possible with the assistance of technical staff, who operated lights and sound effects, helping the show achieve a professional look.

Plays dealt with subject matter like the 2016 election, the romantic lives of popes, and even killer drag queens. Each night, viewers were taken on a riveting journey as they witnessed performances that evoked laughter, fear, and other emotions. The diverse selection of plays demonstrated the students’ abilities as versatile actors and writers who were able to take on any genre of theater.
