Superhero Movies In 2017

Fans of comic book superheroes and villains should be excited because this is another great year for live-action superhero movies. Comic book movie adaptations have gained popularity in recent years with the introduction of new characters and worlds.

Let’s look at 2016, a year that brought many well-received movies like Deadpool, Batman V Superman:Dawn Of Justice, Captain America:Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, Suicide squad, and Doctor Strange. Marvel and DC’s new direction toward bringing in more characters has opened up a new world for newcomers and fans to dive into.

The list of movies for 2017 includes anticipated titles for fans of all comics. So far this year, one movie has been released with five more scheduled to come. The following list includes announced movies to air in 2017 as of March. 

 

Logan

Release Date: March 3rd

Notable cast members include Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Elise Neal, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Boyd Holbrook.

Taking place in 2029, a worn down Logan, also known as Wolverine, must drive a young girl named Laura to the Canadian border because she possesses extraordinary powers like Wolverine. Professor X has been waiting for her arrival and so the pursuit begins.

 

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2

Expected Release: May 5th

Notable cast members include Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Chris Sullivan, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, and Michael Rooker.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 takes place months after the first, in a journey across the cosmos to unravel the truth behind Star-Lord’s past. The half human and half alien Star-Lord was abducted at a young age by a group of mercenaries called the Ravagers. Uncovering the past will explain how Star-Lord was able to withstand the absorption of the infinity gem at the end of the first movie.

 

Wonder Woman

Expected Release: June 2nd

Notable cast members include Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Ewen Bremner, David Thewlis, and Elena Anaya.

The warrior princess of the Amazonian people Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman, learns from an American pilot of the ongoing conflict in the world, she plans on leaving her home to stop this threat. Being raised on a sheltered island paradise will not stop her from discovering her full power.

 

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Expected Release: July 7th

Notable cast members include Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Martin Starr, and Angourie Rice.

This takes place after Spider-Man’s debut in Captain America: Civil War. The premise behind this movie involves Peter Parker balancing his life as a high school student and his alter ego Spider-Man. With the mentorship of Tony Stark, Spider-Man must fight the emerging new threat, the Vulture.

 

Thor: Ragnarok

Expected Release: November 3rd

Notable cast members include Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Tessa Thompson.

With a new powerful threat emerging, Thor must escape imprisonment and fight Hulk in order to get back to Asgard. Thor will need to get back to his homeworld in order to stop the ruthless Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death.

 

Justice League

Expected Release: November 17th

Notable cast members include Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, and Claran Hinds.

Taking place months after Batman v Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman assemble a team of metahumans to face Steppenwolf and Parademons who are after the three Mother Boxes on Earth.
