PTSA Speaker Series was on Monday April 24 at the media center @ 7PM (Jesse Ruiz/Lion Tales)

On Monday April 24 at 7 pm there was a guest speaker at the Lincoln media center. It was an organization to inform students, parents, and friends about understanding relationships, dating, violence & consent, and also about understanding what we need to know for healthier relationships. The guest speakers included Ms. Mabelle Bong with YWCA, Silicon Valley and Ms.Phoebe Macleod and she deals with domestic violence.

On every chair there was a little PTSA Speaker Series evaluation sheet asking if the speaker informed the audience about new things and if the audience would use this in an every day thing. There were also cookies and water for the audience to help themselves to. The speaker also showed some clips of actors of different movies that contained foul language showing how students watch these movies and, due to that, can be influenced in a bad way or learn bad habits.

In the beginning the guest speaker Ms. Mabelle Bong mentioned the community rules where she said a famous saying also known as the Vegas rule:  “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”. She was explaining how she doesn’t want any information said else anywhere besides in that room. And she also said if you had and questions they can talk to her after or call there support line which is a 24/7 number at 1(800) 572-2782.
