Recently there’s been a stomach virus going around SJUSD schools. Many seem to believe its the Norovirus, but is it…?

Have you heard from a teacher that the Norovirus is going around?

Are you frightened of getting it?

Don´t worry! A nurse here at Lincoln high school says it´s not the Norovirus (winter vomiting bug). She informed us that while it is not confirmed that the Norovirus specifically is going around, there is some type of virus affecting the students.

Over 50 students have been sent home because of this stomach virus. The students realized they obtained the stomach virus by the easily spotted symptoms; vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain and nausea. A way that the school has attempted to help prevent the virus from spreading even more is by bringing an outside company to clean overnight. Desks and other flat surfaces that students touch were cleaned with bleach.

A way that students can help themselves is by properly washing their hands and to not share food while this virus is spreading. It is also advised and mandatory that students stay home 48 hours, even if they feel that the symptoms have stopped, when getting the stomach flu.
