Mr. Rosie was always in action and gave his best to keep Lincoln in top condition.

Lincoln’s Head Custodian Robert Rosie retired Friday, February 27 after working 30 years for the district. Mr. Rosie had an eventful time at Lincoln and enjoyed every day he spent here. When Lion Tales asked him about Lincoln, Mr. Rosie said, “You could not ask for a better school. I like the staff a lot.”

Mr. Rosie shared the things that have changed since he started working at the school. He said that the theater was an interesting change. Also, he told Lion Tales that Lincoln used to have an agriculture building with livestock. Laughing, Mr. Rosie recalled, “I never had to worry about eggs for the weekend. I collected a bunch every weekend.”

Over the years, Mr. Rosie became the unsung hero of Lincoln. He made sure that the campus stayed as clean as possible. The staff appreciated Mr. Rosie not only for the good job he was doing, but, as Coach Collins told Lion Tales, “I will miss him on various levels. On a personal level, I will miss talking to him every day. Also, he was always just a phone call away if you needed him. He is more than a custodian. He is difficult, if not impossible, to replace.”

Without Mr. Rosie, life at Lincoln will be different at first. He was a part of the school's story and will remain so.

Now, Mr. Rosie leaves the school with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes. He said that he is going to miss the school and the students. Mr. Rosie described his relation to the students as “like being a grandparent. You see them growing up over the years, and then they just leave.” But this is not the end of the line for Mr. Rosie. He said that he will continue to visit Lincoln and ended the interview with the words: “If they need me for volunteer work, I will be here.”

In the name of the whole Lion Tales staff, and also in the name of all members of the Lincoln community, we wish you goodbye and best wishes. We will miss you, Mr. Rosie!
