My Top 5 Upcoming Videogames of 2015
January 29, 2015
From Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to Destiny, Far Cry 4, and Assassins Creed Unity, there were many top game titles released in the year of 2014. It is time to talk about the top games coming out in 2015. There is a huge list of games already in the line-up and ready to go. Here is my list of video games that I am excited to see come out throughout the year.
5. Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC
To start off my list is a video game released two years ago and recently brought to next-gen consoles right before the year ended. Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC has been long awaited by gamers around the world.
The reason why I say this is because you can “mod” your game, which means modifying the original game and adding coded files on to the game files. This adds hilarious items or game types to the game and improves the game’s graphics to better than they already were. Just like mod group iCEnhancer did with Grand Theft Auto IV for PC, putting GTA5’s game graphics to shame.
Recently Rockstar Games has announced that GTA 5 for PC has been delayed from being released, from January 27 to March 24. Rockstar responded on their newswire saying, “Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans.”
4. Evolve
Evolve is due to be released on February 10th on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Evolve is a 4 player cooperative game where you and 3 other players hunt and track down an alien monster, controlled by a fifth player. Both the hunters and the monster can equip abilities throughout the game.
The monster can hunt and eat smaller creatures to evolve itself into and become stronger. Playing as the hunter, your job is to locate the alien monster controlled by the fifth player and meanwhile kill the wildlife to earn upgrade abilities. The way to win is simply the hunters taking down the alien monster, the monster taking you and your entire team out, or the monster completing a secondary objective (destroying a human base camp or power plant).
What excites me about this game is seeing a whole team take on a monster controlled by an actual player. Observing both teams and the tactics used to take down each other and find advantages to win the match. We will have to wait and see, however, to make sure the game is not a disappointment packed with multiple bugs and glitches that ruin the game’s launch experience.
3. Dying Light
Up next comes a action/horror game that many gamers have been waiting on for over 2 years now. Dying Light will be released on January 27th on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Dying Light is an open world game in first person view. When I first saw gameplay of this game I was blown out of my mind at how alive the world was. It was like playing Mirror’s Edge and Dead Island. This is a true game changer in my opinion. It is the first zombie survival game mixed in with parkour. If you have ever played Dead Island then you will be quite familiar with the build-your-own-weapon mechanic system, but now imagine it combined with free running through the streets and up the buildings to get away from zombies, in first person view. It makes me quite curious, though, as to how all that would look on screen, because you are running and to add effect and realism into it the camera view of yours would be shaking. Blood might be in your face and blocking your vision. I will not know until the game comes out and I find out myself, but it is worth the wait.
2. Assassins Creed Victory
This would not have been a list of the top games coming out in 2015 without putting Assassins Creed on it. In December 2014, images and information about the next installment of the Assassins Creed Franchise were leaked online. It was code named “Assassins Creed Victory.” There is not much information about it besides it being set in the Victorian Era in the 19th century. That is all that the public knows so far about Assassins Creed Victory, but we do know that it set to come out later this year.
1. Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront is an action shooter video game being developed by Dice Studios. Some people may be familiar with that name; some may not. Dice are the creators that brought you the action-packed online multiplayer thriller game Battlefield. Battlefront is basically a reboot of the old school Star Wars Battlefront some of us teenagers might have played when we were younger on PlayStation 2. It has been kept well hidden, with no news about the game or images being leaked aside from a small clip released last year at E3 2014. I assume that more news about the game will start rolling out during the summer at E3 2015, which will be held in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center. I am hoping to be one of those lucky people to be able to attend E3 and witness all the news they will be releasing about the game and also have a confirmation on when the game will be coming out.
