Lincoln Attends We Day
“One year of Empowerment could make a life time of difference.”
Lincoln’s Interact club and Computer Science class took a trip to San Jose’s SAP Center, joining thousands of other motivated students, teachers, and organizations from all over California, for this one-day event known as We Day, on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The purpose of We Day was to bring a large group of people together under one stadium, and inspire them to create positive change throughout the year.
Performers and speakers included Joe Jonas, Lt. Colonel Eileen Collins, Cher Lloyd, Kid President, Ezra French, Spencer West, Cody Simpson, and many more. The speakers delivered motivational speeches and stories, and performers kept the crowd entertained.
However, as fun as it sounds, no one could buy a ticket to We Day. All the attendees earned their admission for this event by doing community service for both a local and a global cause. Interact, for example, has their international project, HSH (Home Sweet Home), and their local project, OHOA (Open Heart Open Arms).
Anna Do, a sophomore attendee of We Day, shared her opinion on the event. She said, “I really enjoyed the speeches and performances. They were really inspirational.”
“You can change the world,” said sophomore Anqi Zhong. “You can make a difference. That’s what [We Day] was about.”
