Review: Battlefield Hardline
It has been over a month that Battlefield Hardline has been out and let me tell you, wow, what a thrill and exciting game it is. You never know what you might get yourself into when you enter a match. Either if it is a game of conquest, hotwire, blood money or Rescue, which is similar to search and destroy Call of Duty players might be familiar with.
Now I would write about Battlefield Hardline’s singleplayer but I hardly even touched the storyline because of how fun multiplayer is. There are a lot of things you can do when you have a group of friends to play with. It gives you the ability to use most of what Battlefield Hardline has to to offer.
I played Battlefield 3 and 4 as well, but the gameplay was not similar on Hardline. Battlefield Hardline is a fast-paced video game with car explosions everywhere you turn, and buildings and cranes falling down the streets, rendering roads inaccessible. You can use a zipline or grapple hook to reach vantage points before anybody else does. Some other gadgets in Hardline include a tracking dart and even a taser gun, new melee weapons like a baseball bat, golf club, machete and more.
There is also a new gametype, called “heist.” In heist you have two teams, cops and robbers. The robbers’ job is to break into the bank vault and steal the money. To do that you must breach and clear the room where the cops will be waiting to stop and take you down, which is why you would need a good team to communicate and be able to get out safe to extract the money and win. But, that’s where things get interesting. As you try and get to the extraction point, the enemy knows your position and will do whatever they can to take you down, taking control over the money bag and taking it back to the bank vault. This is something that happens quite often but you still have a chance to make as comeback and win the game.
Some other gametypes in Battlefield include team deathmatch where you just shoot to kill, conquest which is like a game of king of the hill where you have to take hold of and defend from enemies taking the position.
There are also tasks to do in Battlefield’s multiplayer. Some are easy and some are difficult. They are tasks called “syndicate.” There are various syndicate tasks that are completely optional to do. Completing a syndicate assignment unlocks a legendary weapon with max damage. Which basically makes every person you kill a one shot kill. I was lucky to complete the professional syndicate task and unlock the .300 Knockout sniper for the professional class. It was not easy. But, I survived and would probably never try completing another syndicate assignment ever again.
as for hardcore Battlefield players, I am assuming not many of them like it because of how fast paced the game is. The reason for this is because the maps are not as big as they are in other Battlefield games, and the game is mostly set in urban areas and towns having to do with the whole cops and robbers theme. On the other hand, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 are set in rural areas, jungles, snowstorms, hurricanes and more. The size on the map depends on how long it takes to finish a match depending on what the objective is, and in Battlefield Hardline is like playing a game of Call of Duty games being too fast paced on any game type.
Don’t get me wrong– Battlefield Hardline is still a fun game, and can still improve, but you must know it is not the same game for a reason. If it was just like all other Battlefields then people would complain about how it’s just a copy and paste of the other games. Gamers are always going to complain for whatever reason and never know what they want in a videogame.
