Prom Promises Paradise
Get your dancing shoes on for a “Night in Paradise” at prom this Saturday May 16th.
Prom will be held at the Scottish Rite Center beginning at 7 pm, leaving plenty of time for group photos and dinner beforehand.
Ms. Eileen Zamora, one of the organizers for prom said, “There will be a photo booth, candy bars, three slushy machines and an amazing array of desserts.”
This year’s prom is at a different place. Lincoln’s prom was held at the Scottish Rite Center eight years ago. Ms. Zamora and other instructors chose this location for financial reasons.
The requirements to buy prom tickets are strictly enforced. For example, all community service hours must be completed and all Saturday schools and debts must be cleared. Prom tickets are $50 for students with ASB and $55 for those without ASB.
There was a competition for the best promposal. The winners would receive free prom tickets. David Plasencia and Marily De Alba-Gonzalez won the competition. Plasecencia asked Alba-Gonzalez at the stands during a Giants game.
“At prom, I expect no dirty dancing, you would not want to see me doing that,” said Ms.Zamora. She also confirmed that there will be a breathalyzer at prom.
Ms.Zamora said, “Be safe and be smart about the after parties. If you are a senior, you want to graduate and if you are a junior, you have to come here next year. If you are going to be an ASB officer, you have to put up with me.”
“It’s your life, it’s your journey you only have one,” she said.
