Election Results for 2015-2016 Cause Suspicion
The class elections of 2015 stirred up controversy throughout the halls of Lincoln High School.
Election results were announced after sixth period on May 1st. Unfortunately, many students were unable to hear the results due to swim finals and other sport games pulling students out of class. This caused a lot of confusion, and to this day many students still do not know the official results.
Along with the uncertainty of who won, there was also an uncertainty of who had cheated their way to the top. The controversy over results began as nothing more than rumors. Some of the rumors going around included candidates having seniors vote, voting for themselves multiple times, and even collecting ID numbers and inputting them as votes for themselves.
The newly elected Environmental Commissioner, Kian Martin, cleared up the rumors for Lion Tales. Martin explained that “a few candidates got caught walking around campus with a piece of paper asking for people’s ID numbers. Allegedly all of the people knew they were signing up to vote for those candidates but they should not have done that.”
