October Recap: Lincoln’s Busiest Month So Far
Leadership and the ASB president planned encouraging, fun, emotional, and spooky activities for the month of October. Lincoln students were showing their college spirit throughout the first week of the month. On Tuesday, October 6th it was “Dress what you aspire to be” where students got dressed up according to what they want to become. Wednesday was “College Gear Day.” Students and teachers wore their college gear, such as hoodies, shirts, socks, and backpacks from their favorite college or university. Thursday was “Dress for Success” where students dressed as if they were to go to a job interview.
Monday, October 12 was the start of breast cancer awareness week. Tuesday, October 13, Leadership had a fundraiser to raise money for breast cancer organizations, they asked for donations of any amount and in return they painted nails and faces out in the quad. As a way to raise awareness Lincoln arranged for a breast cancer survivor to speak to students about her personal experience and answer any pending questions on Wednesday, October 14. Thursday and Friday leadership held elections for little bone and big bone royalty. Big bone king and the big bone queen winners are Daniel Ramirez and Brianna Salazar.
Monday, October 19th was red ribbon week. Halls were being decked in red and posters advertising the importance of staying away from drugs and alcohol. Thursday the 22nd, students went out to the quad to get their face painted in red.
October 26th to the 30th was Halloween week. Tuesday, Lincoln’s very own Convertibles performed in the gym as well as LHD for the scary rally. Wednesday the 28th was “Halloween Colors Spirit Day” where students wore their browns, oranges, purples, greens, and blacks. Thursday was “Halloween Spooky Spirit Day.” Students wore their scary costumes. Friday, October 30th, to end the week, there were quad activities. Clubs were doing activities open to the students such as corn hole. Teachers had a costume contest and Ms. Gurash took first place. After, students from all dance levels joined together to put on a flash mob at the quad.
Way to go lions for all the school spirit you showed last month. Let’s keep it up for the rest of the year!
