Lincoln opens its Doors For Back to School Night 2015
Back to School Night was a success for parents, students, and faculty members. Parents enjoyed the classes, it gave them more of an insight into how different teachers operate their classes. Back to School Night gives a chance for parents to get to know more about their children’s teachers.
The night started at 6:00pm and lasted through 8:00pm on Tuesday 27 of October. There was an opening welcome for all parents in the gym for information about Back to School Night directed by Lincoln’s principal, Matthew Hewitson. After parents had 45 minutes to roam around school to check out the classes they decided they wanted to know more about. Each class a had session to attend depending on the subject they wish to check out. Session 1 began at 7:00pm through 7:20pm, Session 2 started at 7:20pm through 7:40pm, and Session 3 started 7:40pm through 8:00pm.
Back to School Night gives some students extra credit and it helps parents come to understanding of what their kid is doing in that class, knowing the work they do, and if it is challenging them enough. This year Back to School Night was different then the previous year because this year you can go to any period then last year you will need to go by periods in order.
Although not all students showed up the ones that did left with an understanding and they had a fun time because of the food stand hosted by the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders sold hamburgers and hot dogs as a fundraiser and so families can have dinner at school since the parents were leaving at 8:00pm. Convertibles and Mariachi performed during Back to School Night.
Ivy Bennington, Freshman at Lincoln said, “Back to School Night was fun for my mom she loved my experiment that I presented for my Biology class about mold.” She also said, “My mom talked to my teachers and she had questions about the material and she got an answer to all the questions she had.”
