Preview: Drugs, Alcohol, and Sexual Assault Awareness
What is your opinion on drinking and drugs? On November 9th, at 7 p.m., Lincoln will be hosting a Speaker Series in the Media Center over “Drugs, Alcohol, and Sexual Assault Awareness,” in honor of Red Ribbon Week. Dr. Alison Bateman from The Santa Clara University Wellness Center will be speaking; providing some influential information that will help the audience, themselves, promote the awareness. With the issue being mostly present in teens, high school students are highly encouraged to attend the event, as well as parents.
Some of the things you will learn about:
- Reducing harmful alcohol and other drug use
- Reducing sexual assault and relationship violence
- Increasing student knowledge of and tools to engage in healthy choices related to wellness
- Engaging student as ambassadors and educators amongst the student body to promote a safer, healthier, and more supportive campus community
The speaker, Dr. Alison Bateman, will also be available after to answer further questions and/or concerns.
NOTE: Students, if you plan on attending remember to ask your teachers if they will provide extra credit for going! Also, remember to sign in once you arrive to assure you receive your credit. They will give you a “voucher” which you may only obtain as you enter the night of the event, it will have a corresponding number that will match up the attendance sheets.
