VIDEO:Christmas in the Park
Christmas is right around the corner and what way better to bond with loved ones than to go to Christmas in the park and have a joy full experience. The park attracts around 500,000 each holiday season. Your time is running out to go to the park and look at the amazing displays that are put out. All the trees and displayes are going to stay untill January third.
How did it all start? The tradition beegan back in the 1950s with a single Nativity display built by family man Don Lima.Don Lima owned Lima Family mortuary in Willow GLen and decided to bring some holiday spirit to the community by borrowing $300( because of inflation, in the 1950s $300 is now equivelent to $2,800)to build the first ever holiday display in San Jose. Each year Lima sat on his lawn watchhing people from all around that came and each year he kept on adding more displays. It had brought so much attention that by 1970 he donated his displayes to the city of San Jose were they sat in front of city hall. Then in the 1980s a group of people came together to move the displayes to the Plaza de Cesar Chavez.
