Lincoln Gives Blood!

On January 29th, Lincoln students donated blood for the annual Interact Blood Drive which is provided by Stanford’s Medical Center. The blood drive was held in Lincoln’s small gym, it started at 6am and ended at 3pm.

Most students were pretty excited about the fact that they’ll be donating blood for the first time, but actually, a number of students were shut down by not meeting the requirements such as the amount of iron they had to have which was 12.5, their blood pressure was to low, and their weight or height didn’t meet requirements. Students got fed cookies, granola bars, and orange juice after they were done donating blood to prevent students from feeling nauseous or dizzy.

Two students gave us their opinion on their decision on donating blood.

Zyanya Bello said, “I did it to give back to the people who actually need it and possibly save a life because this small act of kindness can go a long way.”

Emili Salazar said, “Well, I was pretty curious on how it will actually feel like to donate blood because I’ve never tried it in my life so I wanted to do something new and can say it was a good first experience and I’m saving a life in the process so that’s great, also it wont be my last time doing this.”
