Front Lawn Long Gone?: Mystery Closure Explained

On Tuesday, November 16, Lincoln students were met with a stunning new development: the majority of the front lawn area had been completely closed off by orange fencing. This change came without prior warning and displaced numerous students who ate lunch in the area.

As it turns out, the area had been closed for landscaping purposes and will reopen sometime in January. However, it may take longer to reach completion, much like the media center. According to Craig Wilson, head of the project, the lawn was fenced off so the grass could be reseeded.

The greenery in front of school had been struggling to survive recently, as students behaved “like cattle,” damaging the grass over time. After the job is finished, grass in the affected areas is expected to be thicker and more viable.

This comes after a recent announcement made by Principal Hewitson warned students of the consequences of littering. The possibility of “closing off” certain areas where trash was most concentrated was mentioned, but no connection has been made between this and the closure of the front lawn. When asked for comment, the principal was unavailable at the time of publication.
