Water Main Melt Down
On Wednesday, December 7th, at around 1:30PM, a water main supplying Lincoln High School broke, prompting a school-wide shutdown of water access. The water main in question was located directly behind the rear exit for the Black Box Theater. Workers spent roughly 3 hours before the problem was fixed. “Under ground there are big huge pipes, and many of them are very old,” said Mr. Hewitson, “Old pipes sprung a leak near one of their valves, and a huge stream of water from the leak was approaching the parking lot. In order to fix it they had to shut the water down so they could clear the pipes and fix them, meaning everything on campus except the main building lost water.”
Despite these setbacks, water access was restored to Lincoln by the next day. “It’s tough,” said Mr. Hewitson, “but in those situations, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
