On Tuesday, February 28, Russ Peak, the renowned motivational magician who has impacted the lives of over two million people in all 50 states, made a pit stop at Lincoln High School to perform and inspire our student body. Although Peak claimed he wasn’t psychic, he stunned us all with his ability to make randomly chosen cards appear from oranges as well as guess words that students visualized. In between his clever tricks he motivated us with empowering pieces of advice, “I dare you to challenge the limits placed upon you, do what you’re passionate about but do not chase others dreams”. He never stayed serious for long however, he constantly pulled members from the audience to assist him on his journey of amusement.

“The audience interaction was a really cool part of his performance, it made the whole thing feel more like it really was for the student body” said senior Anya Harkness.

Although most people were laughing and smiling throughout every great magic trick, people had their doubts; “Its all about statistics and probability” said sophomore Chloe Hazelgreen, while trying not grin. while probability may have played a large role in his performance he provided motivation and smile all around, “It wasn’t magic but it was fun and light hearted” said junior Siena Dicostapinto.

Russ  was a student chosen from the majority of the Lincoln leadership class after watching one of his performances at a leadership student conference at James Lick High School. “He was really captivating and able to maintain that attention throughout his performance” said enthusiastic leadership student Lynzie Laviano. “The performance is exactly what we needed halfway through the semester” added Blake Panian of leadership with a small nod.

Whether you’re a magician enthusiast or a skeptic, we can all agree that we left the performance talking about what we had just seen.
