Throughout his 35 year career, Mr. Streitfeld has been a reporter for both The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times before receiving his current position with the New York Times. Mr. Streitfeld is well known for his stories on Silicon Valley and the practices of large corporations such as Amazon and Apple. Other awards of Mr. Streitfeld’s include the Pulitzer Award for Explanatory Writing and the “Best in Business” award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
Upon receiving the award, Mr. Streitfeld spoke of Journalism as a whole and the role a Journalist has in their society, the future of journalism, and the possible growing pains the medium will experience in an ever-changing society. “We’ve weakened journalism by talking about what was going to happen,” he said, instead emphasizing that Journalists should focus on “What’s happening right now.”
