Hackathon 2017
Lincoln had its first ever Hackathon on Friday, March 31, 2017 in the Lincoln Center from 8 am through 5 pm.
A Hackathon is an event that usually is held for several days (2-3 days) in which people gather to engage in collaborative computer programming.
Students had the choice of participating in this event. Before the actual day they had to go to a workshop to prepare and get informed about what the Hackathon would consist of. About 50 students went to the workshop, however only 33 students actually participated in the Hackathon.
When the students got to the Lincoln Center that morning they were given the task to create a project or a mini video game. They had all day to complete this task and at the end of the day there were awards. Students were provided with breakfast burritos in the morning, various types of sandwiches for lunch, and pizza for dinner.
The day went swell and as expected. It brought students together that had a common interest. Lincoln hopes to make this a tradition.
