Track and Field Make It To CCS Finals

Track & Field CSS Finals

One of many Spring sports is track and field, and two of our Lincoln lions made the CCS Finals: Nicolas De Ornelas and Jing Jing Huntley.

Nicolas was able to answer some questions I had for him. I ask him how long he was running and he said that “I’ve been running sense freshmen year because there was a junior that said I was fast and that I should join track, so I did.” Another question I asked Nicolas was what kind of foods he eats before track meets, and he responded saying “I’ve been eating a lot of banana’s,so usually before track meets I eat one banana but they do a number on you If you eat to many.” Something I ask him if he had a routine before track meets and he said “I start by stretching with my teammates and the other competitors, after that Ill go up to my coach to ask him If there Is anything I need to know about the other school’s and he gives me hints about what I should do about the other school’s.”

They will be running together at Gilroy High School today.

Scoring:

1st place = 5 points

2nd place = 3 points

3rd place = 1 point

– If a team sweeps an event they will earn all 9 points

– every point earned for the school is also a point that gets taken away from the other school

Types Of Event Matches:

All the track meets have events like the 100 meter dash and the 1600 meter race. Some other ones would be like the 400 meter race and the 110 meter hurdles. A relay race is another event, as in shot put and high jump. Any athlete in any event can score points for their team, and all those points together determine the team winner.

CCS Finals is today at Gilroy high school
