The Story Behind The Lit Lamp in The Theater.

Have you seen the lit lamp inside the theater, if so what is it?

The Lincoln Theatre Guild pledges to a shared commitment to greater inclusion, participation, and compassion in our theaters and our communities. The light will remain lit until it is no longer necessary. It will be remaining in Lincoln’s theater lobby as a reminder to “BE A LIGHT” as we the Lions forge ahead.

According to TheGhostLightProject.com, The Ghost Light Project movement first began on January 19, 2017 at 5:30 pm in each time zone across the country. Members of the theater community from Broadway, regional theaters, high schools, colleges, and community theaters will all come together creating a “light” for challenging times ahead. By leaving a “ghost light” on in a darkened theater, artists and communities will make or renew a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. A pledge for continued vigilance and increased advocacy.

Sophomore at Lincoln from the drama department, Rocco Desantis said, “Basically all over the U.S or places that generally people that have theaters know about The Ghost Light Project. It’s basically a sign of unity inside the unity and we know whats happening and we want it to be seen. Even though we don’t need a light its just like a sign of unity and we stand together.”
