On Sunday, February 25th Richard “Dick” Knapp, a longtime Lincoln staff member, passed away. Mr. Knapp became a staff member at Lincoln in 1970 and continued his work on campus until just a few months before he died. In his 47 years at Lincoln, Mr. Knapp taught English, History, Science, Woodshop, Physical Education, and Work Experience; he was also the advisor to several clubs throughout his career including La Raza.

In the early 1990’s Mr. Knapp became the first ever counselor to Lincoln Plus, a program that gives a second chance to at-risk students who have previously failed required classes. The program has now blossomed into an institute that helps dozens of students not only graduate high school but further their education into colleges all around America. Mr. Knapp helped hundreds of students throughout his career reach their full potential, he was truly an educator who touched lives in the most positive way possible.

Mr. Knapp is succeeded by his wife Jan Knapp and his two daughters Maggi and Kelly, Kelly is the principle of Willow Glen Elementary School and his three grandchildren.

We send Mr. Knapp’s family our love and we thank him sincerely for his service to our school.
