First Ever Latinos Unidos Dance
Looking for something fun to do on Friday,March 8, 2019? Pioneer High School is hosting a Latino Mixer dance called “Baile Forever.” The dance is from 7-10pm. The cost for a ticket is $10 for an active Latinos Unidos Club member and $15 for general admission.
Lincoln Lion Tales interviewed Ileana Perez, the teacher in charge of Latinos Unidos Club, to find more information about the dance. She said that Pioneer tried to get all the Latinos Unidos Clubs in the San Jose Unified School District to come together and make a dance, they chose the location, time, and date. They agreed because it was kind of in the spur of the moment and decided to go along with it. Lincoln has tried to make a dance before but it was too much manpower and effort, which they have not gotten to.
Anybody that attends Lincoln, Pioneer, Gunderson, and Willow Glen High School can attend. There is a limitation of 60 tickets being sold per school. One must buy the ticket at the school they attend and bring their ticket and student id at the time of purchase and at the dance. However, the group performing will be selling tickets at the door for the same price, of $15.
There will be a DJ playing Latino music. There will also be live banda. The group that will be performing at the event is Generacion Codiciada. There will be a taco food truck. There will also be piñatas, each school will provide one.
There will be raffles. Baskets with goodies will be raffled. The baskets can contain items such as a Latinos Unidos Club shirt and more donation ideas from the club. The raffle ticket price depends on the type of items that are in the basket.
Ms.Perez also mentioned that this is the first Latinos Unidos dance ever and the money earned will be fundraised to the clubs since each club has their own cause that they want to fundraise to. She thinks that since this is the first dance, it is pretty cool because it means that Latinos Unidos Clubs can not only dance together but then hopefully network and do things together and just have a Latino dance.
Ms. Perez finished the interview by saying “Hope it’s gonna be fun.”
