The sequel of the movie Beetlejuice came out last year and I got to experience it in theaters.
Although it was a good movie I think that it was not structured and or related to the first movie at all. It is possible that the intention of the movie was to not make sense and be a new storyline just due to the kind of movies Tim Burton produces. The movie did relate to the past mentioning some characters from the first movie and going back to Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz getting married, but overall the subject of the movie was completely unrelated to the last movie. I was hoping that it would relate in someway but it focused on the ex-wife of Beetlejuice who is unheard of in the first movie, but it is possible they wanted to create a new storyline and catch new attention.
To add on, I think that the thirty-six year age gap between the movies, clearly changes a lot of the dynamic and look of the movie. The effects look a lot more different, but of course, it’s a 3 decade age gap. To me it just doesn’t have the same feeling the first one had, it was more scary due to the old look and not as advanced effects as now, it’s so updated it just looks AI and to me that doesn’t look scary. It looks weird because of how updated and real producers want it to look. Vs. the old effects giving the scary look.
So, I believe that, the first movie is better than the second just because of the look and it simply being the first as the second movie has no relation or structure, but let’s not forget the first one is just as wacky, but definitely better.
