CAHSEE Time!
The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is needed for high school students to take in order to pass high school.
Sophomores take this test which tests their knowledge in 6-8th grade math, as well as English testing.
As a Freshman this year at Lincoln High School, it’s nerve racking knowing that my next step is taking a test that determines whether I can graduate and walk the stage my Senior year. Most Sophomores would get extremely jumpy, but half are relaxed when Lion Tales asked a few randomly about their experience in taking the CAHSEE March 18th and 19th.
6 out of 10 Sophomores were a bit jumpy, and thought they were going to do horribly, but shortly after they began the exam, they relaxed after completing the first 20 questions. Some of them actually thought they did great and put in as much effort as they could. Unfortunately, Lion Tales spoke to a few students who did not even try to do their best this time. Fortunately for these students, they have the opportunity to re-take the test again before they graduate.
If a Sophomore misses the test, or fails, they will have to retake the test Senior year and and will not find out if they passed it or not until after everyone’s graduated. Seniors that have to retake the test can not walk the stage at graduation, and will receive their diploma in the mail during the summer.
