CrossFit Fundraiser is Success
A couple of weeks ago, Lincoln’s club “Habitat for Humanity” grouped up with CrossFit on WillowGlen to raise money for their trip.
CrossFit is a “fitness company and exercise philosophy.” It is a trendy and urban method of exercising; the results from a CrossFit work out are remarkable. The science behind CrossFit is that it combines cardiovascular exercise and weightlifting work out. They include natural movements that maximize efficiency. Their typical work out gets an individual’s heart rate up with cardiovascular exercise and then they begin weightlifting.
Lincoln has teamed up with the location on Willow Glen but there are more locations that can be found here. A Willow Glen CrossFit trainer who own the location, Audra helped put together this fundraiser because she loves to give back to the community and help schools.
This particular fundraiser was a huge success for the club, raising $800. Many familiar faces from Lincoln were seen there as well.
Habitat for Humanity would like to expand this annual fundraiser to one at Lincoln. The club wants to join other groups and create one huge CrossFit fundraiser on Lincoln’s campus. By doing one big fundraiser hosted at Lincoln, Habitat for Humanity believes that they can get the whole school and community involved. “CrossFit is healthy, fun, and trendy way of working out, if brought to Lincoln would be a huge success,” said club advisor and Lincoln teacher Daniel Weaver.
Since the fundraiser is done annually, Lincoln could create a massive fundraiser if other clubs get involved.
Habitat for Humanity is a club that spends all school year raising money for their trip to New Orleans to help build homes that were damaged or broken from Hurricane Katrina. They leave during spring break. For more information on the club, one should talk to Senior Madi Wells.
