Lincoln Plus Celebrates Earth Day
Lincoln Plus went on a long hike deep into the forest at the Guadalupe Reservoir as a celebration of Earth Day on Tuesday. Lincoln Plus students were a little overwhelmed when they found out it was going to be about a four hour hike, but in the end everyone made it.
Students got to see some of the most amazing views of the city once they got to the top, and were especially impressed by Mount Umunhum. It was a major shock to students when they saw how low the water at the creek was due to the massive drought we have been facing.
For the seniors, this was a bittersweet outing because it would be their last field trip. Destinee Mata, Class of 2014, said, “I thought it was really fun. It was a way for us to get a good exercise and a way for us to make friends with the A.M. class. It was such a fun experience to go hiking with my classmates. It was exhausting but we made it. I have to thank Mrs. Kleppe and Mrs. Marquez for letting us all share that great experience together.”
