Uesugi Farms supports Breast Cancer Awareness
October is decorated in pink, from the uniforms of athletes to the sleeves of your coffee cups, all in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Many companies all over the world, such as Safeway and Target, have stepped up to helping the cause, but donating your leftover change from buying groceries is not exactly an enjoyable experience.
Being asked to donate money at a cash register has transformed the good deed of giving a donation to a worthy cause into an annoying confrontation between you and the cashier. This should not be the case for any form of donation; donating should make you feel good.
Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park has found a solution: merge the fun and beauty of the fall season with the opportunity to donate to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
Uesugi donates $1 from every Porcelain Doll pumpkin sold, only fitting since these pumpkins are a beautiful shade of pink! The farm also has over 25 different varieties of pumpkins and a giant pyramid made out of over 4,000 pumpkins.
You will see some of the biggest pumpkins of your life following the annual pumpkin weigh-in, with the winning pumpkin of this year’s competition weighing 2,036 pounds. The top 3 pumpkins from the weigh-in are on display for the entire period of time the farm is open.
Among the pumpkins are rows of yellow and orange Marigold flowers, a two acre large corn maze, a petting corral, railroads, a honey hut (where you can see bees in their process of making honey), hayrides, a butterfly valley, hay jumps, a carousel, pony rides, and even pumpkin blasters.
The pumpkin patch also offers live entertainment, with Mariachi, classic rock, country music, Surf music, and country line dance performances, as well as comedy and stunt shows.
With the abundance of activities to participate in, it is nice to know that the place you are enjoying so much is a supporter of such an important cause. It might make you feel less guilty for indulging in one more slice of pumpkin pie.
