The Freshmen Experience
Recently Lion Tales has interviewed a few freshmen to see how everyone is adjusting, and taking in the new surroundings throughout school. The students were asked ten questions, and what follows are the most frequent responses. People interviewed have asked to be kept anonymous.
1) What is one thing you enjoy about Lincoln High-School?
- “P.A program.”
- “Friends.”
- One student told me that they liked the grass..well isn’t that new?
- As a freshmen on Lion Tales staff, learning new things is my favorite.
2) Why did you attend Lincoln?
- “Music.”
- “Drama.”
- “Dance.”
- “Friends.”
- “I didn’t have a choice.”
- I came here because of the amazing orchestra.
3) What is your favorite part of the day here?
- “Being with friends.”
- “Orchestra.”
- “Drama.”
- “Lunch.” Why lunch, I asked? “It’s fee time to hang out with friends, and have some space.”
- I, too, agree with these responses.
4) Where would you have gone for high school, if you didn’t come here?
- “Pioneer”
- “Gunderson.”
- “Santa Teresa.”
- “San Jose High.”
- “Willow Glen.”
- “Leland.”
- I would have chosen Pioneer or Leland.
5) Any sports you look forward too?
- “Soft Ball.”
- “Soccer.”
- I can’t wait for softball!
6) What is your thought on your teachers? Are they nice?
- “Friendly.”
- “Funny.”
- “Open-minded.”
- “Great.”
- “Great sense of humor!”
- I think all the teachers and administrators treat each and every student here with respect, and treat you like a young adult.
7) Are people judgmental?
- “Everyone is friendly here, nobody cares who you think you think you are, or what you did before. It’s time to grow up and focus on school instead of if you’re popular or not.”
8) For these last next three questions I have interviewed Coach Auguiniga, one of the P.E. teachers at Lincoln.
- Is P.E. harder in high school than middle school?
- Coach Auguiniga: “Yes it can be difficult, but we have made new activities to be experienced. It’s half and half for difficulty.”
- What are some things you think students would want to change?
- Coach Auguiniga:”Most students would say less running. And it also depends on which particular activity.”
- Do you think students enjoy warm ups? If so which ones?
- Coach Auguiniga: “We try and mix it up, so it doesn’t get boring. New routines are great, and you should be able to push your self and achieve that goal.”
