Free Money: How to get it

Seniors and their families attended an informative financial aid meeting, hosted by Joe McDevitt and Elizabeth Ochoa from West Valley Community College. It was held on January 15 in Lincoln’s media center.

Attendees learned about different types of financial aid, how to save money for college, and how to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

There are different types of financial aid, like grants, work-study, and low interest loans that make college affordable. McDevitt and Ochoa talked about the application process, cost of attendance, tuition and fees, and transportation.

Seniors can create a FAFSA by going online to https://fafsa.ed.gov. It’s very simple to do and you must have one if you plan on getting financial aid from the college you are attending.

For specific or personalized questions about filling out your FAFSA, you can visit the College and Career Center on the second floor of the main building to get assistance.
