Men’s Volleyball “Set” Their Sights on “Spiking” the Season
UPDATE (02/26/15): Schedule added
Men’s volleyball is back to have a great season.
Thirty people are trying out for the men’s volleyball team, but only twelve can make it onto each of the J.V. and Varsity teams.
Lion Tales talked to the Varsity team’s coach, Mr. Kim, who has been coaching for sixteen years.
Coach Kim said that he is “expecting hard work, discipline and good attitude from the team.”
It is still possible to try out, but this opportunity is the only open to the athletes who are currently occupied with a winter sport. Coach Kim’s season last year was successful; the record for the varsity team was .500, with even amounts of wins and losses. Coach Kim hopes that players grow and enjoy the hard work they will be putting in this year.
This year’s men’s volleyball program is welcoming Mr. Oshiro as coach for the J.V. team. Coach Oshiro volunteered to help Coach Kim prepare the team for their season. His experience comes from playing volleyball in high school. Coach Oshiro expects the team to “come to practice with a great attitude, try hard and to come on time.” Men’s volleyball tryouts are still in process for the J.V. team.
Both Varsity and J.V.’s first regular season games will be against Overfelt on March 17th, but the first games on the home court will happen on March 26th, against Branham. The J.V. team will take the court at 5:30 and Varsity will be playing at 6:30. Come out to the main gym to support the Lions.
