Cars of Future and Past

It is the 21st century, and technology is progressing and becoming more complex over years. Computers, cellphones, TV’s, they are even creating wearable technology, such as dresses and shoes. But some of the most exiting and unbelievable technologies are, cars. So in the following slideshow, we will showcase and analyze how car technology has changed over the years.

Corvette Z06 Heck (2015)                                              77 Chevrolet Corvette (1977)

Corvette Z06 lightweight, with a hydroformed aluminum space frame, carbon-fiber hood and removable carbon-fiber roof panel, adjustable rear spoiler wickerbill, composite floor panels, dry sump oil system, titanium intake valves, available Brembo carbon ceramic motors and an available 4G LTE connectivity. It was also designed to be powerful, with a LT4 supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering at least 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Corvette engineers have managed to increase LT4 fuel efficiency by leveraging the trio of advanced technologies introduced on the Corvette Stingray powertrain: Direct Injection, Active Fuel Management and Continuously Variable Valve Timing. Corvette Z06 also offers a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed paddle-shift automatic. In addition according to Tadge Juechter, Chevrolet Corvette chief engineer, ” We’ve incorporated racecar strategies and highly-advanced technologies that will keep it as the gold standard for all-around performance in the world”. On the other side, we have 77 Chevrolet Corvette, with a four wheel disc brake system, with gauges like water temperature, oil pressure, and an analog clock. Other features include 3-4 speed manual transmissions with n option of Turbo Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission. with speeds up to 200 km/h (124mph) with a two door coupe body type.

Ferrari F430 (2014)                                                          Ferrari 512BB (1973)

Ferrari F430 uses aerodynamics which is honed to generate dynamic air flows to increase down-force and improve cooling, with a 4.3L 32 valve V8 Engine, with a fuel tank capacity of 25.1 gal and a maximum speed of over 193 mph. Ferrari F430 comes with a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive and available in a 6-speed manual with automated shifting and clutch. Also available with special larger break rotors of 350 mm in the front and 340 mm in the back with combined  6 pistons calipers and soft compound breaking pads making the breaks much more powerful, also the rear diffuser which changes air flow from under the car creating a suction like the effect, which pulls the car to the ground, which increases the down force, and therefore ensures a better performance on the track as well as on the highway. Lastly underneath the splitter the surface is very smooth allowing the air to move faster and thus improving the overall aerodynamics. On the other hand we have the Ferrari 512BB, a 1973 model and with a mid-mounted flat-12 engine. It has 360 hp , a five-speed manual transmission, uses timing belts rather than chains, dry sump lubrication which prevents oil starvation during hard cornering and a chin spoiler upfront. Other features include: torque up to 333lb, 7000 rpm, an attainable speed of 160 mph, and a kurb weight of 3,483lb. In conclusion 512 BB was equipped with a 5-litre version of the 12-cylinder boxer, with twin overhead camshafts per bank, two valves per cylinder, a fuel feed of four Weber 40 IF3C, an electronic single spark plug per cylinder ignition, dry sump lubrication, a twin-plate clutch,  and it’s a two sitter berlinetta.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse with an internal combustion engine of 8 litre W16, 64v 2xDOHC quad-turbocharged petrol engine and a 1,200 metric horsepower. This world record setting production car an slingshot to 100km/h (62mph) in 2.4 seconds. But this car doesn’t only come with some cool features but also with some great expenses, such as it’s cost of $2.4 million. This incredible piece of machine an go up to the speeds of 407km/h thought this number decreases only to 375 with the roof down, and electronically when driving on normal road.In addition producing a maximum output of 1,200 PS (880 kW; 1,200 bhp) @ 6,400 rpm and a torque of 1,500 N·m (1,100 lb·ft) @ 3,000-5,000 rpm. Other features of this car include: 7 gear DSG, fuel consumption of 24.91/100km, CO2 emission of 596g/km, the body of this car is made up of carbon fibre monocoque that is suspended from an aluminum frame in the front and has a carbon fibre/stainless steel frame in the rear, and a 1990 curb weight. Now lets compare this expensive piece to another model. Produced in 1991, Bugatti EB 110 is a mid-engine sport car, with a 3.5L 60-valve, quad turbo V12 engine using a 6 speed gearbox, capable of 560 PS (412 kW) @8000 rpm, this model could reach up to 60mph over just 3.2 seconds and can reach a maximum of 216mph or 349km/h in speed. I would say not so bad for the 90s, and wait until you see the other features. Bugatti EB 110 comes with a electronic injection fuel system using petrol fuel, maximum torque of 470 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM, manual 6-speed gearbox, front and rear ventilated discs, curb weight of 1,615 kg (3,560 lb) and a 550 break horsepower. Lastly it is constructed of aluminum block and head, dry sump lubrication, chassis carbon fibre composite monocoque, front suspension made up of double wishbones, pull-rod operated shock absorbers, and rear suspension which double wish-bones
