UPDATE: Photo gallery added 10/8/15.
Cross Country athletes have pushed through the hot weather to reach their timed goals and meet their coach, Carlos Robledo’s expectations. Over 50 student-athletes are competing to win against other public schools around the city, in order to move up to BVAL League finals and CCS playoffs. These athletes train day and night to be placed as one of the top 3 best runners that represent Lincoln Athletics.
Sara Greenhalgh, a Junior attending Lincoln High School has participated in Cross Country for 3 years. Sara decided to join Cross Country, because she wants to stay fit and meet new people. “An average day at practice consists of the following: a quick warm up, 2 mile run (depending on the day), and a cool down at the end of practice,” Sara said.
Yaseen Shokry, a Junior, has been a participant since Freshman year; he is currently on the Varsity team. “I never really thought about joining until one of my friends convinced me to,” said Shokry. Robledo’s highest expectations for his team this season, are to maintain a 3.0 GPA, and try their best to surpass their timed goals.
