The Girl’s Basketball Hoopin’ Victory 34-33! CCS Game 1
On February 26, 2016, Lincoln’s girls basketball team played their first round of CCS against Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, with the final score being a close 34-33.
The game started off with Sobrato in the lead, and eventually began to even out as the game proceeded. Our starters, which included Olivia Brashears, Vanessa Azure, Aileen Weise, Sara Greenhalgh, and Alyssa Greenhalgh, seemed to have offense handled very well. When it came to defense, our team progressively got better as the game went on, with more rebounds, Sara Greenhalgh having two steals, and overall played better defense. Our offense was pretty consistent throughout the game, with Olivia Brashears shooting three pointers, and Vanessa Azure making fast and consistent shots. Towards the end, the game came to a close tie, however on the last few seconds, Aileen Weise, made the winning shot!

We asked Olivia Brashears what her expectations were during the game and she said,“going into the game we knew that both teams would be evenly matched.” We also asked how she felt the other team was going to perform that night, she said “we knew it would be tough, because they did have a lot of fans, but having Lincoln fans there made it fun!” The crowd for Lincoln was rather large, and there was much support. Many students came to watch, as well as family members.
One of the spectators, Frank Zhou, came to support the team. when asking him on his thoughts on the game, he pointed out that “Lincoln didn’t really score to much during the first period.” He also mentioned how “Morgan Hill was one of their closest, if not, the closest games they had throughout the whole season.”
Confidence was high in the crowd. When asking Cameron kemske what he predicted for the game, he said “watching Sobrato’s and Lincolns team practice, I was pretty confident that we were going to win.”
