71st Big Bone
As the Lincoln Lions and San Jose Bulldogs faced off for their 71st meeting on Thanksgiving day, the Lions proved they are still the dominant team, beating the Bulldogs 56-29.
The Lions outscored the Bulldogs in the first two quarters, 41-20. Lincoln’s first 34 points went unanswered before the Bulldogs scored their first touchdown. Lincoln’s started the scoring with Galvan catching a 3 yard pass from Gonzalez for a touchdown. Then Lojera caught a 61 yard pass from Gonzalaz for another touchdown. Next, Galvan punched in another touchdown with a 4 yard run. Then Mosqueda ran for a touchdown from 2 yards out. Finally, Hoekstra had a 58 yard run for the endzone.
When the Bulldogs finally slowed the Lions down, they got on the scoring track when Del Rio caught a pass from Khan for a 60 yard touchdown. Lincoln answered with Galvan catching a 31 yard pass from Gonzalaz. The Bulldogs responded with back to back touchdowns between Khan to Del Rio With a 40 and 51 yard pass. Alves ran in for a 21 yard score, making the score at this point 41-26. and Fuentes kick from 40 yard out tacked on 3 more points.
But the Lions didn’t make it that easy as they scored back to back touchdowns with Hoekstra from 6 yards out and then Gonzalaz from 1 yard out.
