Good Year for Girls Varsity Volleyball 2016!
This year, Lincoln’s Varsity girls volleyball team had an exceptionally great year and made it all the way to CCS, which stands for Central Coast Section. CCS oversees sports in California high schools, and only the best teams/athletes are able compete.
The coach that led them through their victories was Hanah Kim. He’s led the girls through many wins over the years, but this was the first time he led them to CCS. The seniors that participated in the CCS game were Lileana Torio, Allie Hsu, Emma Heinrichs, Ana Lopez, and Victoria Guzman.
Though they came much closer to taking the CCS title than they had in years past, the players eventually lost against the Cowboys from Salinas High School by a score of 3-0.
“Opposing team needed one more point, one more point to win and the server messed up our serve,” says Stephanie Torres from JV volleyball. The loss against Salinas ended the team’s journey to the CCS title.
However, the girls were still able to end their season on a high note. On senior night, JV and Varsity played against the Pioneer Mustangs and Lincoln Varsity earned a win. The score was left at 3-2. All seniors were congratulated and given a warm goodbye.
