Season Preview: Winter Sports
Boys Soccer:
Boys soccer is getting under way at Lincoln High School. Lincoln is coming off a nice season last year as they battled in the final for the CCS championship and came in second, losing to Los Gatos.
The Lions team started practice in the cold and rain this winter season with great anticipation and readiness for the upcoming season.
This 2013/2014 season is starting off very thin, as the team battles injuries to players which will keep them off the practice field until they start regular season.
This could cause trouble with players not being in shape and not being familiar with the game speed or getting back up to the high level of play. But, most players are very energetic and excited for the upcoming 2014 Soccer season!
Girls Basketball:
This years Lincoln women’s basketball team is very excited and motivated for this years season!
The varsity squad has three freshman. The varsity head coach is coach Keith Crowther and assistant coach is Rich Azure. The Junior Varsity coach is Hanna Kim.
“Although we only have three seniors in the team I’m very excited! I think this season is going to be awesome! The program is very athletic and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen” says varsity player Hannah Pham.
With one of the seniors excited to see what is going to happen personally, I can’t wait to see how they will do!
Senior Melanie Reis says “with great coaching and an amazing team I can’t wait until the season starts.”
First league game will be on January 7th at Del Mar High School.
Boys Basketball:
The season of boys basketball is under way. They are all very excited about the upcoming season. As they all have high expectations for the year to come. The team is looking to win their division within the Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL). With top contenders in the league such as Prospect, Evergreen and Gunderson, and all teams are very good and smart on the court, this season will undoubtedly be fun to watch!
The Lions look to be the ones to shock the league and upset all the teams to win the division, and to possibly get a good seating in the CCS tournament.
