Swimming Into Spring Sports
Spring sports are beginning! Tryouts have been going on and most teams have selected their rosters , the Swim/Diving team is one of those, and they have begun practicing for their first meet.
The Swim/Diving team this year is made up of 65+ students. It is one of the biggest teams of any sports at Lincoln (along with track) and it has boys and girls on the same team. Another unique thing about swimming that most sports don’t have is that there is no cut, everyone gets in! It is actually not just one big team but 2 which are varsity and JV but JV is two teams: B team, and C team.
Practice officially began Monday January 30th 2017. The teams all have different schedules due to the limited space in the pool and separations between the two teams. Practice consists of morning practice, and after school practice which are all in the pool and also dry land, which is running, either at the Rose Garden or at our school grass. The meets however, are all together. The first meet is on Thursday February 9th here at Lincoln at 3pm, but it’s not really an official meet because it blue and gold, meaning it’s the people on the team versus each other. The first meet against another school is Thursday March 2nd vs. Sobrato High School here at Lincoln at 3 pm.
