Lean In Speaker Series
On Friday, April 28th, Lean In will be hosting a special event in the Lincoln Center from 4-5:30pm. The afternoon will feature a number of speakers, and issues regarding the experiences of marginalized communities will be addressed during the session.
Led by Lean In President Naava Ellenberg, this spotlight on social justice is a joint effort between club members and local nonprofit organizations. Representatives from the Billy Defrank LBGT center, Planned Parenthood, and SIREN (Services, Immigrant Rights, and Education Network) will all be present on Friday. Speakers are student volunteers who will be sharing some of their own personal experiences as members of oppressed communities.
For people who may consider themselves unfamiliar with the struggles faced by certain minority groups, this will be a great way to gain insight into the hardships and concerns faced by those groups. Attendees can learn about small actions they can take to be an advocate for the oppressed.
This event promises to be incredibly educational and positive, and all are invited to join in and become a part of the discussion. Don’t miss out!
