Tension on the Court — Lincoln Tennis Team’s Final Games
At the start of the season our Tennis team did not believe they would ever be put into a position were they would be challenging not only for first place but for a spot in CCS. And after having a shaky start to the season the Tennis team started to consistently win matches and were sitting atop of the league.
The season’s climax would come in Lincoln’s second match against Oak Grove on April 13th. At this point all Lincoln had to do was beat Oak Grove, a feat already accomplished before, and they would be league winners and CCS qualifiers.
Lion Tales got in touch with Tennis star Edwin “The GOAT” Ramirez whom described how it was like that day, “This game was single handedly the most important game of our season. If we won that game we were assured of winning league”
After winning five games in a row Lincoln had a lot of momentum going into this match, however disaster struck for Lincoln. “Our top player [Keahooi] was out” Edwin said “so our lineup was messed up and players had to step up”.
Even though our Tennis team put in all they could but to put it into Edwin’s words “we came up short”. The final score of the game being 4-3.
After losing to Oak Grove not only did Lincoln lose out on first place in the league, but they also lost out in the qualification spot for CCS. However, the Lincoln Tennis Team still enjoyed quite a successful season, their final record being 9 wins and 3 losses.
