On August 25, our brave varsity Lincoln Lions battled the Silver Creek Raiders on the football field. It was a struggle and for a while, a stalemate. However soon the Raiders scored touchdown, making a shining 7 on the scoreboard. During the game, we had an interview with Aiden Lopez, a strong player on our Defensive End. A major question that was asked, had been “How do you think this will affect the rest of the future games for Lincoln?” His response was deeply motivating and showed his faith in his team as he responded, “First of all it’s going to start a good chain reaction for us, get a good momentum. Sure it will get us pumped more for the next games, so we will do better in future.”
As the game continued Lincoln didn’t give up and fought with everything they had. We interviewed another player Devon Perez who is a right tackle on our offensive line, and responded with an amazing answer when I asked the question of, “Do you think JV’s loss is having an effect on this game so far?” His response was filled with hope and determination that the Lions will pull through, “Not at all, I feel like we have to get in our momentum and figure out what we’re doing to get that momentum going.” When I asked, “Do you think that this will clear or cloud the rest of this games.” He again responded with a strong passion as he stated, “This is definitely going to clear up the rest of the games. We’ve definitely had some jitters going into this game, being our first game. We also have a lot more new players starting this year so it’s definitely a struggle trying to get them to see what they’re doing.”
As the lengthy game continued, our players fought hard and with a fiery intensity of strength, our proud Lions scored a brilliant, shining 6 on the scoreboard, causing a cheer from the crowd, to show that these rebellious Lincoln Lions do not give up without a fight. The game continued until almost 10 at night. Unfortunately, but also rarely, the game ended at 7-6 on the scoreboard. And even though this was a tough defeat for our Lions, they held their heads high. And although this game didn’t go as planned, we all saw that spark of determination in every player’s eyes, as almost a vow that in our next game, our opponents won’t stand a chance.
