Mens Basketball Recap: Lincoln vs. Live Oak
JV Basketball
Wednesday nights basketball game was a close game for the Lincoln JV boys. The Lincoln boys took the win with a score of 41-37.
The first quarter ended with a score of 12-6, with the Live Oak Acorns in the lead. The top scorers for the Lincoln side were Esteban Mosqueda and Marco Alvarez.
The second quarter of the game the Acorns were still in the lead with a score of 25-14.
The third quarter was left again with Live Oak in the lead with a score of 33-28. This was a close quarter and left the Lincoln boys on their toes.
The fourth quarter came around and both teams were playing their hardest, trying to get the win. Top scorers on the Lincoln side for this quarter were Tobias Veyna and again Marco Alvarez. With the score at 37-37 with 90 seconds remaining in the game, the foul on Adrian Tromono led the Lincoln boys to bring up there score to 39-37.
One last play for the Lincoln boys led #5, Veyna, to score the last two points of the game, securing the win for Lincoln.
Varsity Basketball
The Varsity mens basketball team beat the Live Oak Acorns in a basketball game Wednesday night with a score of 47-32.
The first quarter seemed easy for the Lincoln men, and the team left the court with a score of 16-6. Top scorers of this quarter were Kurt Lejora and Jesse Galvan.
The third quarter Lincoln had scored 15 more points and Live Oak only 8. The score at half time was left at 31-14.
The Lincoln men came out after half-time and showed no mercy. The Acorns struggled in the third, and the score was 38-22 going into the final frame. With some outstanding plays from Dorian Romero on both the defense and offense side, the Lions looked to dominate the rest of the game.
By the fourth quarter, the Lions knew they had this game in hand, but still didn’t let those Acorns off the hook. The Acorns started to catch up, but did not quite have enough left in their tanks. The Lions were able to leave the Lincoln gym with a satisfying win over the Live Oak Acorns.
