Badminton Recap: Lincoln vs. Gunderson
On Thursday, March 13, the Lincoln Lions Badminton team faced off against the Gunderson Grizzlies in Lincoln’s Main Gym.
Badminton is a really fun sport and believe it or not, it is pretty competitive. You guys should all stop by at the next game and check it out!
Each player on each team has their own separate game. It’s either a 1 v. 1 or a 2 v. 2 game.
The Grizzlies took a victory over the Lions. The way a team wins is whenever each badminton player has had their match, they rally until one side has scored 21 points. The first side to win two sets wins the match. Then, players report their scores and the team with the most match wins takes the victory as a team.
Lincoln lost 3-12 as a team, but individually Lincoln’s varsity mixed doubles 1 pair, Andrew Nguyen and Vivian Le, varsity girls doubles 2, Bahaar Muhar and Cordelia Madrid, and varsity boys doubles 3, Tommy Nguyen and Gabriel Alcantara won their matches.
Both teams played very well, but there’s always a team that plays better and takes the win. The Lincoln Lions have a record of 2-1 in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League and we wish them the best of luck in their next match. Catch their next match on Tuesday, March 18th at James Lick High School.
