Mens’ Volleyball Against James Lick
Last night the varsity men’s volleyball team played an intense game against the James Lick Comets. Although they could not come out with a win, the game was still very intriguing to the crowd.
The Lions were able to keep up and stayed 2 and 2 with their matches taking it to a fifth and final match
In the first game, the Lions ended the match with a win of 25-18. Setter Nate Azure and outside hitter Eros Escelona-White played another amazing game together and stayed motivating their team throughout the night. Libero Flavio Escamilla and hitter Abraham Solorio also played well together in last night’s game.
However, the second match was hard for the Lions to pull through and the Comets were victorious, coming out with a score of 25-16. The Comets played a good game and let the Lions know that they came to Lincoln only to leave as champions. They were willing to play long and hard in order to do so.
Third match ended with a score of 25-17, the Comets taking this match again.
The fourth match was the most intense match of the night. The Lions pulled through with a score of 27-25. The Lions and Comets were going neck and neck throughout the match but of course the 2 point lead came in handy for the Lions when senior player Escelona-White served some bombs over the net and let the comets make the mistakes.
The final match of the night had the crowd biting their nails in hope that the teams would pull through to 15 points. Both teams stepped up their game and played for the win. Although the Lions did not come out with this final win they still put up a good competition and had the crowd cheering for them. The match ended with a score of 17-15 with the Comets taking home the victory.
