Lions Football Team Prepares for Season
The Lions football team is back! Junior Varsity and Varsity will play their first games on September 12th versus Santa Teresa at the Lions’ home, while the Freshman team’s first game is on September 13th.
Varsity’s first preseason game was on August 28th and Junior Varsity’s first preseason game was on August 29th. During Junior Varsity’s preseason, the team played a total of 4 games. They won one game and lost three, but at least they tried their best.
Coach Phillips told the Junior Varsity and Freshman teams, “Give your best. You have to show us that you want to play and you have to try your best and most of all have fun out there.”
Luis Vargas, a Tight End who is playing his first year of football on the Freshman team, said, “I think the team is gonna do good because everyone has a connection and we work really hard in practice.” Vargas commented that the football players were preparing by practicing all of their plays. They also do conditioning for almost 30 minutes after each practice.
Come out to support your fellow Lions in their first football games next Friday and see if they will set the bar high for the rest of the season.
Junior Varsity will begin at 4pm and Varsity will begin at 7pm.
