Hoekstra and Pina Win Athletic Recognition
Two Lincoln athletes were recognized last week for outstanding achievement in their respective sports.
Cross country team member Jose Pina won first place in the Chieftain-Spirit Classic Cross Country Invitational at Toro Park in Salinas last Saturday. He completed the 3-mile course in 15 minutes and 42 seconds, the fastest time out of more than 500 runners. Pina’s early success picks up right where he left off in his 2013 season.
On the football front, star Running Back Jacob Hoekstra carried the ball 22 times for 254 yards, scored 2 touchdowns and 2 extra points during last Friday’s home game against Santa Teresa. Hoekstra was named the Mercury News Player of the Week for his valuable contributions to his team.
Congratulations to both Jose Pina and Jacob Hoekstra!
