Dia de los muertos
On Wednesday, November 2nd 2016, Lincoln High School celebrated Day of the Dead during 3rd period, advisory, lunch, and 5th period. Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a holiday that many Latino people celebrate to remember deceased loved ones.
Lincoln students installed an alter in the quad so people could put up items that reminded them of loved ones. Students from Trace Elementary and Hoover Middle School came as well to come watch the performances and partake in all the activities being offered.
In addition to this, visiting students were exposed to a number of great chalk murals drawn by members of Lincoln’s art department. All day, the quad was filled with folklorico dances, mariachi music, and colorful artwork. Thanks to the artistic talents of Lincoln students, the Dia de los Muertos celebration was a beautiful success.
