Lunar Art Show
From January 23rd to the beginning of March, Lincoln artists from Ms. Zamora’s and Ms. Arredondo’s classes participated in an art show called Lunar Art Hop. Student artwork was displayed and sold at locations such as Tea Lyfe Drinks on Story Road (8018, 989 Story Road, San Jose, CA 95122) and the Classic Loot Event Space in Japantown (621 N. 6th St.). Ms. Arredondo’s work was also displayed at the Roy’s Station location on 197 Jackson St.; along with the original pieces, prints of selected pieces were sold for $2-$4 and DIY vintage Valentine’s day card sets were up for $5.
According to Andrew Martinez, an advanced art student, the art program at Lincoln is often overlooked. He believes people should be more appreciative of art because “you can see art everywhere.” The theme of the art show was to celebrate the Lunar new year so all the art pieces featured a rat to commemorate the year of the rat. Martinez struggled with this theme and had to overcome his “disgust of rats” to complete his piece. Martinez also said it was “surreal” to see his work in the gallery.
All profit goes back to the students and the last location at 621 North 6th St. will be open until early March.
