Lights, Camera, Steps 2015
A cheering audience, amazing dancers, and great music: Lincoln’s 2015 Steps, one of our biggest dance shows, was a success.
This year’s Steps had a good turnout because of the outstanding performances. Different levels of dancers from folklorico, Xochitl, beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes performed. Alongside, the Convertibles dance team danced.
There were two acts with a fifteen minute intermission in between. Each act had nineteen performances in it. Some dances had few people on the stage and others had the entire class. At the end of the show, each performer had to bow to the audience on stage.
There was a sold out crowd on Friday, April 24, which made it hard for people to find seats and made the gym stuffy. The show began at 7:30 and went on until 10:30 pm for three showings from Thursday to Saturday.
Food was sold outside the gym; nachos were $3 and candy, water, and soda were sold for $1.
A lot of effort was put into preparing for the live event. Practice was held from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm during the week of Steps. Each group was divided by class to go up and perform. Juniors were especially tired after rehearsal because practice ended late and they had Common Core SBAC testing going on that week.
Dana Brett, Danial George, Christine Scadina, lliana Perez, and Genesis Ibañez were directors of this year’s Steps. Each of them choreographed a dance.
Audrey Castillo, sophomore, said “It was a great experience and a good way to meet new people.”
